Maternity, Pre-birth, Pregnancy Portraits

Pregnant tummy and childrenPregnancy is a wonderful and special time which can fly by all too quickly. The anticipation of meeting your new family member can be so exciting, and you have probably spent ages making sure everything is ready for their impending arrival. A pre-birth, pregnancy shoot can be very relaxing and uplifting event. Why not treat yourself to a stunning pregnancy portrait to celebrate this special time?

When should I have my portrait taken?

Any time during your pregnancy is fine, but from around 34 weeks is especially good as your bump will looking very prominent in all it's splendour.

What would I expect at a pregnancy photo shoot?

Pregnancy portraitInitially we will talk about the style of pictures you would like, discuss the options and look at some examples if you would like further inspiration. Then we will move on to the photo shoot; you might like to check your hair and make-up (an experienced stylist can be arranged if you would like some assistance).

If you would like to listen to some music to help you relax during the shoot, just let me know your preference ahead of time and I'll make sure I have your choice available.

On with the photos; you will be guided through a range of poses whilst you relax and enjoy the experience. If you decided to bring a few sets of clothing, then we will break several times to give you the opportunity to change. Likewise with hair, if you want to include both hair down and hair tied back we can break for that too. There will be enough time in the shoot to cover all the styles and options you want to include.

When we have completed the shoot, I will invite you to book a viewing appointment.

What should I wear?

This really depends on the style of portrait you would like to create. Some ladies like to wear maternity trousers and a cropped top proudly showing off their bump, others like to wear a luxurious robe or wrap themselves in a sheet; some prefer to wear a little less, sometimes nude. Whatever your preference, it can be accommodated; the goal is to ensure you feel comfortable and for us to produce stunning pictures showing your beauty.

Pregnancy PhotographerColours that work really well for maternity portraits are black or white. A white blouse with lacey cuffs or a black cropped top can be very effective. Since your bump will be exposed, it is important that, for a couple of hours before the shoot, you don't wear any tightly fitting clothes across it (we don't want any marks left by waist bands etc), likewise for any other areas that are likely to be exposed.

What happens after the shoot?

I will process the images and make an initial selection of the best pictures. When this is completed, I will contact you to confirm your next appointment back at the studio for the viewing; the appointment is usually about a week after the photo shoot.

Tell me about the viewing

Sit back on the sofa as I dim the lights and start a slide show of your pictures. Your photographs will be projected in the studio for your viewing and selection.

Maternity portraitWhen the slide show is over, we will go through the pictures and you can select your favourites!

There are framed prints and canvases to consider. My frames are all hand made and are of the finest quality components, acid free mounts are used so that there is no discolouration over time. Canvases are of gallery quality and are made to last.

Once you have selected your images and presentation it will take approximately two weeks for your order to be be completed. When it is ready, I will contact you to make collection arrangements.
