This weekend, Berkhamsted couple Tom and Louise visited the studio with their lovely children; Isabella and newborn Harry. You would never have known that Louise had recently given birth – she looked fantastic and not even a little bit tired!

Izzy who is a very mature and chatty 2 1/2 years old, decided that the garden was more enticing than the studio. One of the advantages of being home based, with the studio set in the garden is that it’s relaxed and informal and of course, visitors to the studio are welcome to play, run around and burn off their excess energy, their children can also do the same :-) . Izzy took full advantage,  playing on the slide, scooting around and exploring the toy house whilst mum, dad and baby Harry posed for in front of the lens.

Here are a few pictures from the shoot ahead of the viewing.

Cuddling brothers : Studio Portraits

I had a busy Saturday this weekend with a viewing and a shoot – weekends are popular with my customers as I’m sure you would expect with any photography studio. On Sunday, the studio was free in the afternoon and so my wife and I took the opportunity to get a few pictures for our own walls.

Our youngest, Jamie, nearly 2, is very generous with his cuddles at the moment and we wanted to capture him and his brother engaged in a cuddle – we think they look very cute together.  Jamie and William wanted to see the results of their efforts immediately and so we had a viewing of the unprocessed pictures – I use an Epson projector aimed at the back wall of the studio for viewings.

Aylesbury Family Portrait

Aylesbury Family Portrait

A family from a small village near Aylesbury visited the studio on Sunday. The three children were full of energy and took advantage of the good weather and the fact that the studio is located in my garden, running around for a good 10 minutes before we started the shoot. Dad wasn’t feeling at his best after celebrating England’s win over Scotland in the rugby on Saturday afternoon :-) ;  mum wasn’t too sympathetic after all, it was Mother’s Day and she was expecting him to make an effort for her!

The family were great fun to photograph and the kids wanted to try all sorts of poses! Many thanks for your visit , your photos will be ready for viewing soon – I think we have some great family portraits for you to see!

School closed (again)!

Today school is closed again and so I’m looking after our eldest son. The studio is still covered in snow, but I’ve made a start at clearing the pathway to it.

Snow around the Studio

This morning we headed out to Ivinghoe Beacon for a walk and some sledging, there were quite a few people doing the same – there’s some great sledging and photography opportunities to be had at that location.

After this mornings energetic outing, William is having a nap (he’s only young). I’m writing this and doing some post processing. I’ve completed a couple of maternity shoots and have around 200 shots to work through. I’ll be posting some of the shots here on the blog in a day or two!

I’ve also got a series of shots from a young man’s photo shoot. It was a day or two before his first day at school and he arrived proudly wearing his brand new uniform. Again, I’ll get something prepared to post on this blog.

Now back to post processing!

A snowy day here at the studio in Berkhamsted

A snowy day here at the studio in Berkhamsted

Overnight there has been 3 or 4 inches of snow! None of the local roads have been gritted and our eldest son’s school is closed for the day. I’ve cleared the path to the studio once already and the snow is starting to cover it again. Just as well I don’t have a busy shooting schedule today.

I’ve been summoned to help build a snowman!

If you hadn’t already guessed, my name is Richard Roscoe. I’m a professional photographer, based in Berkhamsted (a reasonably sized town 25 miles or so northwest of London). I have a studio which was constructed in the summer of 2008, so it’s new and shiney! Most of my work is of a contemporary style; white backgrounds and natural poses.

I’m going to use this blog to keep you apraised of the work I’m doing in the studio, it will contain an ongoing sample of my work and will be where I announce special offers or events.

So what’s been happening recently? Last weekend I attended The Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers Converntion 2009. It was help in west London at the Novotel and was a well attended event. There were some excellent seminars, they were very informative and were presented by a wide range of different pesonalities. I think the most humourous seminar that I attended was Damian McGillicuddy‘s “60% photographer, 40% magician” Masterclass. He was from up north (as am I), and reminded me of Alexei Sayle … anyway he was very funny, very upfront and very informative. I’d definitely recommend taking some time to look up and view his work, he has a wonderful and unique style.
